Editorial
This is the fourth, and last issue of the IEEE SMC Society e-Newsletter for 2012 which comes just following the 2012 SMC Conference and Board of Governors meeting held in Seoul, Korea. I attended both events, and was impressed with the hospitality and the excellent organizational abilities of our colleagues in South Korea.

This issue includes a feature on Dr. Ljiljana Trajkovic, 2013 President-elect and 2014-2015  SMC President. Here we include her impressive resume', and her position statement presented at BOG meeting on October 14, 2012. Speaking of elections, please remember to vote for new 2012 BoG members at large. We have included all that you need to learn about your candidates in this issue as well. One Technical Committee is featured in this issue as well.
Recognitions and awards are an important activity of our society and in this issue, I am pleased to have an article on the 2012 awards.

The IEEE SMC 2013 Conference will be held in Manchaster, UK October 13-16, 2013. We have all details regarding the conference in this issue.

It is my intent to solicit and publish status reports from SMC volunteers at all levels. The reports will highlight the activities of each unit and encourage participation of members and non-members alike to further advance our contributions to technological and theoretical aspects of our fields of interest. Please do not wait for an invitation, just go ahead and submit all your news to share with your colleagues new and well established practices.

Future issues will feature reports by technical committee chairs on some of their activities, call for papers of special issues of transactions, tables of contents of forthcoming transactions, introduction to some of our local chapters, and at least one guest editorial among other novel features being planned.
