Rationale for Joseph G. Wohl Award, Norbert Wiener Award, and the Outstanding Contribution Award
Because the Joseph G. Wohl Award is given for outstanding career service to the SMC Field of Interest, the IEEE, and the SMC Society, the nomination should clearly indicate such service by the candidate. Nominations for the Norbert Wiener Award should indicate significant technical contributions to systems science and engineering, human-machine systems, or cybernetics for a sustained period of 10 or more years. The rationale for the Joseph G. Wohl Award and the Norbert Wiener Awards should be limited to 500 words. Nominations for the Outstanding Contributions Award should describe how the candidate has provided exceptional service to the SMC Society. The rationale for the Outstanding Contribution Award should be limited to 100 words.

Three supporting letters are required with each nomination for the Joseph G. Wohl Award, the Norbert Wiener Award, the Lotfi A. Zadeh Pioneer Award, and the Outstanding Service to Humanity Award. A supporting letter by an SMCS officer or member of the Board of Governors should be provided for each nomination of the Outstanding Contribution Award.
