Your Opportunity for Robotics Fame Awaits!

Here’s your chance to have a great time creating novel, and useful, robots and win an international competition: Expandable Robots – From Small to Big (S2B)! On October 8-9 at IEEE SMC 2018 in Miyazaki, Japan, show your colleagues how your robot can be packed in small volumes, deploy from its small package to larger volume/aperture, and function in its larger, expanded form.

First, let us know you’re interested!

  • By September 15th, submit a Notice of Intent (NOI) to participate (title, team members, affiliation, email of team lead, abstract up to 250 words describing the solution in high level terms).
  • By September 30th, Submit a video file (or link to download), video up to 5 minutes long, in which you present your robotic entry solution. Its narration/voice description should be in English. Subtitles/test during the video can be in English or Japanese.

Send both notice and video to the competition organizers: Adrian.stoica@jpl.nasa.govsaeid.nahavandi@deakin.edu.au, pakkar@usc.edu

You could get the chance to demonstrate your robot in person at the “Expandable Robots” competition in Miyazaki. Don’t wait! You could win the First Prize of $2500, Second Prize of $1500, or Third Prize of $1000. Visit the IEEE SMC 2018 web site for competition details.
