Open Call for Nominations for the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Computational Social Systems

This is an OPEN CALL for NOMINATIONS for the Editor-in-Chief (EiC) of the IEEE Transactions on Computational Social Systems, co-sponsored by the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (SMC) Society and by the IEEE Computer Society (CS) and managed by the SMC Society.

The selection of the EiC will be made by the journal’s Steering Committee (that consists of representatives selected by both societies), in consultation with the Publications Committee of the SMC Society, with the Publications leadership of the Computer Society, and with the appropriate subcommittee(s) of the IEEE Publications Committee.

IEEE Transactions on Computational Social Systems focuses on such topics as modeling, simulation, analysis and understanding of social systems from the quantitative and/or computational perspective. “Systems” include man-man, man-machine and machine-machine organizations and adversarial situations as well as social media structures and their dynamics. More specifically, the proposed transactions publishes articles on modeling the dynamics of social systems, methodologies for incorporating and representing socio-cultural and behavioral aspects in computational modeling, analysis of social system behavior and structure, and paradigms for social systems modeling and simulation. The journal also features articles on social network dynamics, social intelligence and cognition, social systems design and architectures, socio-cultural modeling and representation, and computational behavior modeling, and their applications.

The term will begin March 1, 2017 and end February 28, 2020.
Self-nominations are acceptable and encouraged.

This is a relatively new journal. While it has already published many interesting papers by renowned researchers, this journal is still in its growing stage. Because of this, IEEE strongly recommends that the journal’s EiC concentrate all his/her effort on this journal, and not serve in a leadership position (such as EiC or Senior Associate Editor) for any other publication.

The EiC will report to the Steering Committee and to the SMC Society Board of Governors (BoG) and is expected to submit annual reports and attend SMCS BoG meetings.

Nominations should be sent to Vladik Kreinovich ([email protected]) and should be received by February 1, 2017 in order to be considered.

A nomination should include:

  1. The name of the nominee (and the name of the publication for which the candidate is nominated);
  2. A written confirmation that the candidate accepts to be nominated for the Editor-in-Chief position;
  3. Curriculum Vitae of the nominee, including the track record with respect to IEEE publications in general and the targeted publication in particular;
  4. A position statement of the nominee indicating the nominees’ view on the future of the publication.
