Prof. Daniel S. Yeung held at the Polytechnic of Bari (Italy) on May 15-16, 2016 the IEEE DL talk, “The Big Data Challenge: From Machine Learning and Pattern Recognition Perspective”. The talk is a Lecture in the DL program of the SMCS organized by the Systems, Man, & Cybernetics Italy Chapter (Chair Maria Pia Fanti till May 2016).
Following welcome messages to audience, Prof. Yeung gave a talk for about 60 people including faculty members, PhD students, and engineers from industry. At the beginning of his talk, he explained the SMCS’s activities including DL Program and Chapter activities and encouraged audience to join SMC Italy Chapter.
Interesting technical discussion between the DL lecture and audience was held, and finally a large promotion of the IEEE activities was performed.
Besides these local activities, we wanted to give an impact to our Chapter members and potential Chapter members by inviting an international speaker, providing a distinguished tutorial talk, and attracting their interest. His excellent talk has promoted discussion and research in the area of soft computing. The DL Program was very helpful to give a promotion impact to our Chapter members and potential members.
