IEEE SMC Distinguished Lectures by Professor Daniel Yeung in Shijiazhuang Chapter (Hebei, China), 3 December 2010

On December 3, 2010, Prof. Daniel S. Yeung, SMC Junior Past President, Prof. Xizhao Wang, Chair of SMC Baoding Chapter, a former SMC Board of Governor and TC Co-Chair of Computational Intelligence, and Dr. Patrick Chan, SMC Student Activities Coordinator, visited the IEEE SMC Shijiazhuang Chapter, China.

Prof. Fachao Li, Chair of SMC Shijiazhuang Chapter, chaired the seminar session held in Hebei University of Science and Technology (HBUST). Daniel presented the lecture entitled “Multiple Classifier System and Its Application to Intelligent Business Computing” to more than 30 attendees including members of the SMC Shijiazhuang Chapter and colleagues from the faculty of Economics and Information Engineering of HBUST. It was followed by Xizhao who spoke on “Decision Tree and Rough Set”. A promotional presentation on latest development and activities of the IEEE and, particularly the SMC society, was presented by Patrick who also made a special appeal to the graduate students in the audience to take advantage of a wide range of opportunities offered by the SMC society. After the seminar, a brief meeting was held to exchange ideas on how to better serve the needs of the local SMC members and the possibility of establishing a SMC Student Branch Chapter in Shijiazhuang.
