IEEE SMC Society Taipei Chapter

The IEEE SMC Society Taipei Chapter was formed on Dec. 15, 2003 with the support of then Vice Presidents, Prof. Larry Hall and Prof. Tsu-Tian Lee of the SMC society. The Chapter has currently more than 148 members in Taiwan, all with the aim of promoting the theory, practice, and interdisciplinary aspects of systems science and engineering, human-machine systems, and cybernetics. Although the Chapter is relatively new, it has co-sponsor and will co-sponsor various activities as follows:

• The 2004 IEEE International Conference on Networking, Sensing and Control, March 21-23, 2004, Taipei. The conference was organized by IEEE SMC Vice President, Prof. Tsu-Tian Lee. The then President of IEEE SMC, Prof. Gruver, also attended the conference and visited Chaotic Systems and Signal Processing Lab of National Chiao-Tung University.
• The 2004 CACS Automatic Control Conference, March 26-27, 2004, Taiwan for a keynote speech in Intelligent Vision-Based Vehicle Control ( IVBVC).
• The 2004 Workshop on Consumer Electronics and Signal Processing, Nov. 17-18, 2004, Hsinchu, Taiwan. Systems Engineering and Integration Conference, Mar. 22-23, 2006, Taoyuan, Taiwan.
• 2006 IEEE Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, Oct. 8-11, 2006, Taipei, Taiwan.
• 2006 CACS Automatic Control Conference, Nov. 10-11, 2006, Taipei, Taiwan.

The intermediate and long term aims of the Chapter include:

1. Promote contacts and exchange information among scientists and practitioners in different fields for promoting the mission of the SMC Society
2. Recruit new members, particularly, students and practitioners/professionals from industry
3. Host industrial-oriented seminars and technical talks.
