IEEE Singapore Section: Systems, Man & Cybernetics Chapter (SMC)

The IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics (SMC) Chapter in Singapore was formed in 2002. The Chapter has been actively involved in various activities conforming to the aims and objectives of IEEE SMC. These activities include organizing technical seminars, workshops, and conferences, increasing interaction between members through social events, and promoting IEEE SMC among the students. The SMC Chapter and the RA Chapter of IEEE Singapore organize the biannual events "IEEE Conference on Robotics, Automation and Mechatronics (RAM)" and "IEEE Conference on Cybernetics and Intelligent Systems (CIS)", which are held concurrently. The 2nd CIS and the 2nd RAM was held in Bangkok, June 07-09, 2006. The IEEE Thailand Section was the collaborating partner in organizing this event with great success. Prof. I-Ming Chen was the General Chair for CISRAM 2006 with Prof. Kay Chen Tan and Dr. Abdullah Al Mamun acting as the Program Chairs for CIS06 and RAM06, respectively.

Besides organizing the CISRAM, SMC Chapter was the technical co-sponsor of the IEEE Conference on Computational Intelligence, Robotics and Autonomous Systems (CIRAS), 2005.

The IEEE SMC Chapter (Singapore) has so far organized the following technical seminars:
