UK&RI Systems, Man & Cybernetics Chapter (SMC)

The IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics Chapter in the UK and the Republic of Ireland was formed in 2002. The Chapter has held one UK and 3 International Conferences so far with the latest annual conference on Applied Cybernetics being held during 7 & 8 September 2005 in London. The scope of the Chapter activities and conferences includes but is not limited to:

  • Intelligent Systems (eg for communications, control, instrumentation, etc)

  • Safety Reliability and Quality Assurance

The Chapter has an active Executive who have additionally achieved publishing a special issue of Kebernetes Volume 34, Number 9/10 2005, ISSN 0368-492X whilst also publishing an electronic Journal of Intelligent Cybernetic Systems - ICS. The ICS e-Journal is aimed at establishing conceptual relationships between the subfields of Cybernetics and is published four times a year.

Chapter Chairman is also chairing the SMC Technical Committee on Systems Safety & Security and is running a special tutorial session under the Systems Safety & Security in System of Systems theme at the Annual SMC Conference in Hawaii in October 05.
